Bolton Wanderers FC have broken their transfer record, paying Toulouse FC a reported €13m for the services of Sweden striker Johan Elmander.

Long-term admirer
The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Premier League side after appearing in all three of his country's games at UEFA EURO 2008™ as Sweden failed to progress from the group stage. Elmander spent two seasons with Toulouse, scoring 22 goals in 64 Ligue 1 appearances and helping the club reach the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round by finishing third in the French top flight in 2006/07. "Johan is a player I have admired for a long time," said Bolton manager Gary Megson. "He will get us goals and also create other opportunities for his team-mates."
