Villarreal CF have signed 18-year-old United States forward Jozy Altidore from Red Bull New York for an undisclosed fee and the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League participants have also brought in another attacking option – Robert Flores of Uruguayan side CA River Plate.

International experience
Altidore is expected to arrive at El Madrigal after personal terms are agreed and the player passes a medical. He made his Major League Soccer bow at 16 and has been capped three times by the US. "Their interest in me grew more and more and, fortunately for me, it was during a time when I was playing some of my better football," Altidore said. The 22-year-old Flores scored three goals in 14 appearances for River Plate during the 2007/08 season and has been capped twice by Uruguay.
