Early progress
"We're pleased at UEFA to see a successful start to [UEFA] EURO 2008™," he said. "Three of the four groups have started now, we have the feeling that all venues are operating well, we have sold-out signs everywhere, and in particular we had an excellent game in Berne yesterday [Netherlands-Italy]." Mr Taylor took the opportunity to visit the UEFA EURO 2008™ Fan Zone in Berne, where thousands of fans watched yesterday's action.

"Notwithstanding the mixed [early] weather, the Fan Zones have been a big success. We've had no security problems to report at all from yesterday, and the Berne Fan Zone which I visited personally is working very well – there were huge numbers of people there. [The Fan Zones] are getting big support from sponsors. They're real entertainment centres, and the next best place to watch the game if you can't go to the game itself."
