AFC Ajax have signed teenaged Serbian international Miralem Sulejmani from Dutch Eredivisie rivals SC Heerenveen in a deal worth up to €16.25m.

Five-year deal
Ajax have handed a five-year contract to the left-sided striker, who having scored 15 goals in 26 league starts for Heerenveen last season, is delighted to link up with Marco van Basten's side. "It is a great feeling and I want to win the championship here," he said. "This club has a wonderful history and many great players have been here, such as Van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp and Johan Cruyff."

Rookie of the year
Brought to the Netherlands from FK Partizan in 2006/07, the 19-year-old was voted the best young player in the Dutch top flight last term. Sulejmani's goalscoring exploits in his debut campaign helped Heerenveen finish fifth, with Ajax in second place. He also earned his first two international caps, playing against F.Y.R. Macedonia and Ukraine in February and March respectively.
