Juve pounce for determined Poulsen

Dane Christian Poulsen is out to prove he is more than simply "a hard-tackling midfielder with no technique" after switching to Juventus for €9.75m from Sevilla FC.

Point to prove
Juve have signed the 28-year-old to fill a problem position ahead of a season in which they will return to the UEFA Champions League, in the third qualifying round, after finishing third in Serie A last term. "I'm very pleased to join such a prestigious club," said Poulsen. "Juventus are one of the most famous clubs in the world and I hope to do well. I'm chiefly a defensive midfielder but I can also play in a more attacking role. I'm eager to prove wrong the critics in Italy who say I'm just a hard-tackling midfielder with no technique. I'll have time to alter their opinion of me."

Honours
Formerly of FC København and FC Schalke 04, Poulsen left the German club for Sevilla in 2006 and helped the Andalusians to UEFA Cup glory in his first campaign. In total he scored four goals in 62 games in the Spanish top flight. The Danish Footballer of the Year in 2005 and 2006, he has won 56 caps for his country.
