France bank on Faye-Chellali

France coach Bruno Bini has called up uncapped midfielder Alix Faye-Chellali among nine Olympique Lyonnais players for their decisive qualifying Group 3 fixture against Iceland on 27 September.

Win needed
Only a victory would see France overhaul the leaders and proceed directly to next year's finals without recourse to the play-offs, having lost in Iceland earlier in their campaign. Since that reverse, Bini's side have won four qualifiers in a row with 17 unanswered goals, and the coach has included 20-year-old former youth international Faye-Chellali in an otherwise familiar 18-strong squad.
