Having come within a point of relegation last term, Osasuna are struggling again this time around after picking up just four points to date, with only they and bottom-of-the-table Real Betis Balompié still winless in Spain's top flight. Ziganda's assistant, Andoni Goikoetxea, has also departed, with the club saying: "CA Osasuna would like to thank both men for their work over the past couple of years and wish them well in the future." After replacing Javier Aguirre in 2006, Ziganda guided Osasuna to the UEFA Cup semi-finals in his debut season where they were edged out by eventual winners Sevilla FC.
