The resurgence of FC Bayern München continued as Jürgen Klinsmann's side came from two goals down to beat VfL Wolfsburg 4-2 while fellow European hopefuls Werder Bremen and FC Schalke 04 were both held.

European exploits
Bayern were buoyant after following up their Bundesliga win at Karlsruher SC last Saturday with a 3-0 success against ACF Fiorentina in midweek that sent them two points clear in Group F, but their recent revival appeared under severe threat when Grafite and Edin Dzeko struck within two minutes of each other just past the half-hour mark for high-flying Wolfsburg. Franck Ribéry crucially reduced the deficit four minutes before half-time and the home side returned to their stride after the interval.

Leverkusen top
Mark van Bommel (54) levelled and Tim Borowski (63) completed the turnaround before Bastian Schweinsteiger, a scorer in midweek, added the fourth. The victory moves Bayern to within three points of leader Bayer 04 Leverkusen, 2-0 winners against 1. FC Köln on Friday, although if either TSG 1899 Hoffenheim or Hamburger SV win their meeting on Sunday they will take top spot. Bremen began the day level on points with Bayern but had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Hannover 96 after Hugo Almeida (40) replied for Thomas Schaaf's men following an early Christian Schulz effort.

Energie loss
Schalke fared no better as they were held to a goalless draw at home by lowly DSC Arminia Bielefeld but there was a goal at Borussia-Park as VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach edged Karlsruhe 1-0 thanks to a Patrick Paauwe winner. That result lifted them to second bottom above FC Energie Cottbus after their 3-2 home defeat by Eintract Frankfurt. Two Dimitar Rangelov goals in the opening 15 minutes had put the hosts in control but Michael Fink (38) pulled one back and second-half strikes from Martin Fenin and Nikos Liberopoulos turned the match on its head.
