Kaká strike
Juventus had soared into second spot with a 4-1 win against Genoa CFC on Thursday but Kaká's 15th-minute effort was enough for the Rossoneri to reclaim the position and close on the city rivals Inter following their 2-0 victory at US Città di Palermo on Saturday.
Roma rise
Roma climbed on to eleven points from as many games played with their win against local rivals Lazio. Júlio Baptista got the game's only goal five minutes into the second half, heading in Francesco Totti's pinpoint cross. Both teams were then reduced to ten men with Lazio's Cristián Ledesma given his marching orders midway through the second half and Roma's Simone Perrotta seeing red with three mintues remaining.
Napoli heartbreak
SSC Napoli were level on points with Milan at the start of play but goals in the 89th and 90th minutes sent them down to a late 3-1 loss at Atalanta BC. Ferreira Pinto's strike was cancelled out by Marek Hamšík's 72nd-minute penalty, following Marcelo Zalayeta's red card, before Thomas Manfredini and Sergio Floccari settled the contest in a dramatic finish.
Reggina rise
A Franco Brienza goal on the hour helped Reggina Calcio off the bottom of the table with a shock win at Udinese Calcio while one goal also earned the points for Cagliari Calcio against ACF Fiorentina. Giuseppe Mascara's hat-trick gave Calcio Catania a 3-2 success at home to Torino FC and a similar scoreline enabled UC Sampdoria to leapfrog opponents US Lecce. Finally, AC Siena and Bologna FC drew 1-1.
