Hamburger SV moved back into the Bundesliga top five with a 2-1 win against Werder Bremen on Sunday afternoon.
Fifth again
Victories for BV Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04 earlier this weekend had left Hamburg in seventh place but they are now back where they were on Friday afternoon. Bremen remain ninth as they focus on Wednesday's crucial UEFA Champions League trip to Anorthosis Famagusta FC. Hamburg welcome AFC Ajax in UEFA Cup Group F the following day.
Olić winner
José Paolo Guerrero gave Hamburg a sixth-minute lead when he pounced on an effort parried by Tim Wiese only for Diego to level midway through the first half for visitors Bremen with a curling free-kick. The game seemed to be moving towards a stalemate but with 16 minutes left Ivica Olić produced a stunning shot into the top corner to win it for Hamburg, now again within five points of leaders TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
