Arsenal FC have handed a long-term contract to 20-year-old Jay Simpson, rewarding the homegrown forward for his progress this season.

League Cup goals
Simpson is expected to join West Bromwich Albion FC on loan in January, but his future will remain in north London, particularly after he scored twice on his full Arsenal debut in a 3-0 English League Cup win over Wigan Athletic FC in November. The striker, who spent last term on loan at Millwall FC, has made three League Cup appearances for the Gunners in total but none in the Premier League. Meanwhile, West Brom defender Neil Clement will sit out the remainder of the campaign with a knee injury sustained in pre-season.
