Relegation battle
Pillon returns to Serie A after just over a year out, since he was sacked by AC Chievo Verona at the start of the 2006/07 season. The 52-year-old spent last term at the helm of Serie B side Treviso FC but having guided them to safety he parted company during the summer. He arrives at Reggina to replace Orlandi, who departs after a return of 12 points from the first 16 games. A former youth coach, the 54-year-old stepped up for his first experience with a senior side in March to replace the sacked Renzo Ulivieri, and went on to lead the side to safety thanks to key end-of-season wins against Calcio Catania and Empoli FC. He was subsequently confirmed as coach for the current campaign but has been unable to inspire last season's heroics. The details of Pillon's contract are not yet known.
