SSC Napoli jumped above AC Milan into third position in Serie A after a comprehensive 3-0 win over US Lecce while Bologna FC also moved up, escaping the relegation zone with a 5-2 victory against Torino FC.

Home rule
Napoli had won six of their previous seven home games in the league and their impressive form continued against Lecce. Slovakian playmaker Marek Hamšík got the ball rolling from the penalty spot in the eleventh minute and Michele Pazienza added a second just before half-time. Argentinian striker Germán Denis completed the scoring the 65th minute for the Partenopei.

Second-half spree
In Bologna, Torino took an early lead against their hosts through Simone Barone and although Sergio Volpi equalised at the start of the second half, Ignazio Abate soon restored the visitors' advantage. However, a hat-trick from Marco Di Vaio, the last goal of which was a penalty, and a further successful spot-kick from Marco Bernacci, gave Bologna their biggest win of the season while Francesco Pratali received a late red card for the Granata. It was Bologna's first top-flight victory in nine matches.
