Anorthosis Famagusta FC's first UEFA Champions League campaign ended last week but they have been given no let-up, as seven members of the first team going down with food poisoning ahead of Sunday's 1-0 win against AEK Larnaca FC.

Sudden impact
Temuri Ketsbaia was faced with a major crisis after Constandinos Samaras, Andreas Constantinou, Georgios Panagi, Ioannis Skopelitis, Nicos Katsavakis, Klimenti Tsitaishvili and Siniša Dobrašinović were all diagnosed with food poisoning. The 40-year-old Georgian coach was already without injured star players Traianos Dellas, Sávio and goalkeeper Arian Beqaj so turned to the trio with the players with the mildest symptoms: Katsavakis, Tsitaishvili and Montenegrin midfielder Dobrašinović. They were all given injections before kick-off and Dobrašinović went on to score the only goal of the game to help Anorthosis move above APOEL FC and into second in the table, two points adrift of Nicosia rivals AC Omonia.

Quadruple hat-trick
In other extraordinary goings on in Cyprus on Sunday, the women's league fixture between Elia Lythrodontas FC and AEK Kokkinotrimithia FC ended up in a 30-0 win for the away side on Sunday, with AEK striker Sarah Ortendahl scoring an amazing quadruple hat-trick of 12 goals. It was unsurprisingly the highest-scoring game in the island's women's league to date.
