FK Vardar and national team goalkeeper Tome Pacovski has been named Footballer of the Year in FYR Macedonia.
Record holder
The award, presented by the Football Federation of FYR of Macedonia, recognises the 26-year-old's performances both for Vardar and for titleholders FK Rabotnicki, where last season he set a top-flight record of 790 minutes without conceding a goal.
Sharing the credit
Pacovski, who spent three campaigns with Rabotnicki before his summer switch to Vardar, said: "I would like to thank all my team-mates for helping me get this award – it means a lot and is motivation to keep on improving." Rabotnicki took the prize for best club of 2008 while striker Goran Pandev, now in his fifth season with S.S. Lazio in Serie A, was voted the outstanding foreign-based player.
