Manchester United FC went top of the Premier League for the first time this season after Dimitar Berbatov's 90th-minute goal earned the champions a 1-0 victory at Bolton Wanderers FC.

Last minute
Berbatov's header from a Carlos Tévez cross broke the resistance of goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and his Bolton team-mates at the end of a well-contested north-west derby. Saturday's result took United a point clear of previous leaders Liverpool FC, who host neighbours Everton FC on Monday. Berbatov's strike was not the only late goal of the weekend, with Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC also registering in the closing moments of matches.

Turnaround
Chelsea produced the most dramatic finish as they trailed Stoke City FC at Stamford Bridge until Juliano Belletti conjured an 88th-minute equaliser which was followed by a stoppage-time winner from Frank Lampard – on his 400th appearance for the club. Stoke had led through Rory Delap. Chelsea stayed third, while Arsenal remained fifth thanks to two late strikes in a 3-1 win at Hull City AFC. Daniel Cousin cancelled out Emmanuel Adebayor's first-half opener before Samir Nasri and Nicklas Bendtner scored in the last ten minutes.

Penalty
However, Arsenal still trail Aston Villa FC, in fourth spot, after the Birmingham club came from behind to win 2-1 at Sunderland AFC courtesy of an 80th-minute penalty from Gareth Barry. Villa also had Ashley Young sent off. Ten-man Manchester City FC overcame Wigan Athletic FC 1-0 while Tottenham Hotspur FC climbed off the bottom of the table with a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth FC.
