Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven have placed Dwight Lodeweges in interim charge of first-team affairs following Huub Stevens' resignation on Wednesday.

Player support
The 51-year-old steps up from the assistant coach position he held under Huub Stevens, while Jan Wouters remains on the staff to help the caretaker boss. PSV general manager Jan Reker said: "According to the players, Lodeweges is very good at getting his message across and they believe he is the best man for the time being. We will be looking to see what is best in the long term, but won't rush into any appointments." The Canadian-born Lodeweges joined PSV last year alongside Sef Vergoossen, who was himself brought in as a stopgap ahead of Stevens' arrival last summer. The former Go Ahead Eagles defender was formerly head coach at FC Zwolle and FC Groningen. PSV, who were knocked out of European competition after finishing last in their UEFA Champions League group, are fifth in the Eredivisie, 15 points behind leaders AZ Alkmaar.
