France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff produced another impressive display as FC Girondins de Bordeaux won 2-1 at FC Nantes Atlantique to maintain their pursuit of Ligue 1 leaders Olympique Lyonnais at the weekend.
Close race
Second-placed Bordeaux, without a championship since 1999, moved on to 41 points from 21 games, a point behind Lyon. The titleholders were 2-0 victors at Grenoble Foot 38 earlier on Saturday with goals from Ederson and César Delgado.
Comfortable
Gourcuff headed the opener in the eleventh minute in Nantes as Bordeaux registered their fifth successive league victory. Marouane Chamakh made it 2-0 after 70 minutes, before Nantes got a late consolation through Filip Djordjević. Lyon went ahead against Grenoble in the 14th minute when Ederson converted Karim Benzema's cross, with the advantage being doubled 13 minutes from time by Delgado.
Run halted
Olympique de Marseille, in third, defeated bottom club Le Havre AC 2-0. Fifth-placed Toulouse FC overpowered AS Nancy-Lorraine 3-0, while Stade Rennais FC were the only members of the top seven not to win. The Brittany-based side lost their 18-match unbeaten run in Ligue 1 as they succumbed 1-0 away to LOSC Lille Métropole.
