Carasso stars
It was fourth against fifth at Rennes' Route de Lorient Stadium, but neither side managed to rise to the occasion, with a draw suiting Olympique Lyonnais, FC Girondins de Bordeaux and Olympique de Marseille just fine ahead of their fixtures on Sunday. Toulouse goalkeeper Cédric Carasso proved to be the star player on the night, making two great saves to keep the scores level.
PSG triumph
PSG joined the leading pack as goals from Guillaume Hoarau and Péguy Luyindula saw them win 2-0 at home against SM Caen, but OGC Nice's progress up the table stalled with a 1-0 loss to relegation-haunted Valenciennes FC. Rock-bottom Le Havre AC lost 3-2 at home against AS Nancy-Lorraine and Le Mans UC 72 also lost out at home, with FC Nantes 2-0 winners. There were no goals between AJ Auxerre and FC Lorient, while AS Monaco FC's drop fears eased a little with a 1-0 victory over Grenoble Foot 38.
