Scare
Assistant coach Ray Wilkins was put in charge for the day and Hiddink and owner Roman Abramovich watched on from the stands at Vicarage Road as Chelsea created the lionshare of chances in the first half. The Premiership side were given a scare with 21 minutes to play when Tamás Priskin put Watford ahead, but late goals from Anelka on 75, 77 and 90 minutes eased Chelsea through.
Four draws
Elsewhere in the FA Cup, there were draws across the board with Premier League sides Hull City AFC, Fulham FC and Blackburn Rovers FC drawing with first division Sheffield United FC, Swansea City FC and Coventry City FC respectively. West Ham United FC drew 1-1 at home to Middlesbrough FC in the day's other tie.
Portsmouth celebrate
There was only one match in the Premier League, with Portsmouth FC easing their relegation fears with a first league win in ten games, 2-0 at home to Manchester City FC. David James made a Premier League record 536th appearance as Portsmouth won their first game following the dismissal of Tony Adams as manager.
