Ivan Simič has been elected as the new president of the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS).
Rudolf Zavrl steps down
Simič was elected following the decision of Rudolf Zavrl to step down after 20 years as president, including the 18-year period following independence in 1991. The 50-year-old representative of the Ljubljana football association has a mandate until 2013.
Fulfil expectations
The new president paid fulsome tribute to his predecessor after his election. "I am glad to be elected. I will try to work hard and to fulfil expectations. I would also like to highlight the achievements of the former president. We must be grateful to Mr Zavrl for the work he has done,'' said Simič.
