Top four
The 26-year-old Chelsea FC goalkeeper Čech topped the rankings ahead of Juventus star Nedvěd, with Club Atlético de Madrid defender and national-team captain Tomáš Ujfaluší finishing third. Last season's winner, AC Milan's Marek Jankulovski, had to settle for fourth place in the annual poll.
Panenka honoured
Slavia boss Jarolím, meanwhile, was named as his nation's Coach of the Year while 19-year-old Tomáš Necid, who left Slavia for PFC CSKA Moskva in the winter, was named as the nation's top young player. Antonín Panenka, whose famously deft penalty gave Czechoslovakia victory at the 1976 UEFA European Championship, was admitted to the Czech football Hall of Fame.
