Honours
The French-born Mali forward, 31, moved to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán from Tottenham Hotspur FC in 2005 and has since helped Sevilla win two UEFA Cups, the UEFA Super Cup, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup – scoring in all five of those finals. "I'm experiencing the best time of my career here at Sevilla and for that reason I'm thrilled to be able to renew a contract that will possibly allow me to retire at a club that has given me so much," Kanouté said.
'I feel loved'
"I feel loved here by the fans and by those who run the club; I'm tremendously well valued. I hope that in this new period I can continue putting in good performances so that our objectives can be achieved." The former Olympique Lyonnais and West Ham United FC forward, and 2007 African Footballer of the Year, will now concentrate on becoming Sevilla's all-time leading scorer. He needs just one goal to equal Davor Šuker's record tally of 90 in all competitions, set between 1991 and 1996. With ten games left in the Liga season, Sevilla lie third.
