Serie A strugglers Bologna FC have parted company with coach Siniša Mihajlović following their 4-1 home defeat against AC Siena on Saturday and have appointed Giuseppe Papadopulo in his place.

New start
The former AS Roma, UC Sampdoria, S.S. Lazio and FC Internazionale Milano defender had replaced Daniele Arrigoni in November with the seven-time Italian champions second from bottom in Serie A. It was the 40-year-old Mihajlović's first job as head coach after assisting Roberto Mancini at Inter last season, but after a promising start Bologna have lost four straight league matches and six of their last seven to slip back into the relegation zone. Papadopulo, 61, made his name at Siena, leading the Tuscan club to promotion to Serie A in 2002. He has also coached Lazio and US Città di Palermo, who he will face in his first match in charge of Bologna on Sunday. He left US Lecce last summer despite leading them back into the Italian top flight.
