FC Dynamo Kyiv lifted themselves from the disappointment of defeat in the UEFA Cup semi-finals on Thursday to secure the Ukrainian Premier League title, Olexandr Aliyev's stoppage-time free-kick earning them a 3-2 win over SC Tavriya Simferopol that took them beyond the reach of their European conquerors, FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

Record haul
Shakhtar may have emerged triumphant on the European stage in midweek, but in the domestic realm Dynamo are back on top, extending their record haul to 13 crowns after relieving the Pitmen of their trophy. Shakhtar did their best to keep the suspense alive by overcoming FC Kharkiv 3-0, yet Yuri Semin's men still just needed a draw to settle matters before Aliyev buried the ball from 35 metres out to deliver the title in style, keeping Dynamo 12 points clear with three games remaining.

Early goal
That came at the end of an absorbing encounter in which Tavriya took a third-minute lead through Lucky Idahor, who pounced after goalkeeper Oleksandr Shovkovskiy could only parry a powerful Denys Golaydo effort. Semin brought on Aliyev, Artem Milevskiy and Miloš Ninković after the break and those changes bore fruit when Tiberiu Ghioane scored with an overhead kick on 56 minutes. Anton Monahov restored the visitors' advantage almost immediately, but Andriy Nesmachniy equalised with a quarter of an hour to go and Ukrainian international Aliyev then earned Dynamo their 23rd win in 27 league matches.
