Gazzaev to take up Dynamo reins

Former PFC CSKA Moskva coach Valeri Gazzaev has been named as the new coach of FC Dynamo Kyiv, with current boss Yuri Semin having confirmed that he is to return to his former club, FC Lokomotiv Moskva.

First introduction
The 54-year-old Gazzaev, who left CSKA at the end of 2008, officially starts work with the Ukrainian champions on 20 June. He will meet his players for the first time tonight, though, after their final Premier League game under Semin, against FC Shakhtar Donetsk, the team that earlier knocked them out of the UEFA Cup semi-finals. "I am looking forward to working for a club with such great tradition," said Gazzaev, who won three Russian Premier-Liga titles, four Russian Cups and the 2004/05 UEFA Cup with CSKA. "My new team have a good squad, so we do not need to buy many more players."

Moscow calling
Meanwhile Semin, 62, has been confirmed as the new coach of Lokomotiv, returning to the club where he served from 1986 and 2006, and then again as sporting director in 2007. He has agreed a two-and-a-half year contract, which will commence on 1 June. His year in Kiev was a great success, with Dynamo president Ihor Surkis saying: "Semin explained the reasons why he wants to leave and I did not stop him. When we started to think about his successor, we decided on Gazzaev very quickly as he is an experienced coach who had success at CSKA." Dynamo will start their UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage next season.
