Great start
Playing on home turf at the Stade de Suisse in Berne, Young Boys took the lead from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute, Gilles Yapi Yapo dispatching the spot-kick after Enes Fermino had brought down Carlos Varela. The advantage was doubled in the 36th minute as Jamal Alioui deflected a corner into his own net, but that was as good as it got for Young Boys.
Afonso winner
Sion were back on terms within seven minutes of the restart, Goran Obradović and Stéphane Sarni equalising either side of the break, paving the way for Guilherme Afonso to have the final say with just two minutes to play. Sion's victory in the 84th edition of the competition earns them a spot in the third qualifying round of the inaugural UEFA Europa League.
