FK Rabotnicki made amends for a disappointing Prva Liga season by claiming the Macedonian Cup – defeating newly crowned champions FK Makedonija GP Skopje 7-6 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
Miscued cross
Last season's league and cup winners Rabotnicki dominated the final but fell behind after 65 minutes when Nikolce Kleckarovski headed in Milan Ilievski's cross. Makedonija looked poised to complete a double of their own until the dying seconds of normal time when Sasko Pandev's attempted cross arrowed straight into the net. After the resulting period of extra time finished goalless, Pandev also proved the hero of the ensuing shoot-out drama.
Pandev decider
Daniel Jovanovski was the fall guy for Makedonija, missing his spot-kick to allow Pandev – brother of S.S. Lazio striker Goran Pandev – to convert the winning penalty. "We are happy to win the cup and hope next season will be much better than this one," said Rabotnicki captain Radenko Bojovic. "This trophy will be an inspiration for us to go for the double."
