'Great progress'
During his four-year tenure Strachan led the Hoops to three consecutive SPL titles – the only Celtic manager to do so since Jock Stein – as well as a first appearance in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League. "It has been an absolute honour and privilege to be the club's manager for four years," said the 52-year-old. "We have done all we can to bring success to the club and we were delighted to deliver three SPL titles, other domestic silverware, as well as making some great progress in Europe. The players can hold their heads high in terms of what they have done in recent years." Celtic will enter the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round.
