Aidin Mahmutovič was the hero as FK Teplice claimed the Czech Cup for the second time on Wednesday, the forward scoring the only goal against second-division 1. FC Slovácko 1-0 in Prague.
Second chance
Teplice were denied a UEFA Europa League place via the 1. Liga on Saturday when they lost 1-0 at home to newly-crowned champions SK Slavia Praha but they did not pass up a second chance – and nor did Mahmutovič three minutes after half-time. Slovácko goalkeeper Miroslav Filipko could only parry Admir Ljevakovič's effort and the 23-year-old pounced on the loose ball. It was to prove the only goal at the Strahov Stadium as their opponents, who eliminated Slavia in the semi-finals, failed to trouble Tomáš Grigar at the other end as Teplice claimed the trophy for the first time since 2003.
