Denizli to continue as Beşiktaş boss

Beşiktaş JK coach Mustafa Denizli has signed a one-year extension to a contract which was due to expire after leading the Istanbul club to the Turkish double, quashing speculation that he was about to step down.

Beşiktaş JK coach Mustafa Denizli has signed a one-year extension to a contract which was due to expire after leading the Istanbul club to the Turkish double.

October appointment
There had been speculation in the country that Denizli, 59, would step down citing tiredness in the wake of an exhausting season, but the coach was keen to stay on with the prospect of a coveted spot in the UEFA Champions League group stage awaiting Beşiktaş in September. He was appointed in early October last year following the sacking of Ertuğrul Sağlam.
