UEFA Europa League contenders SC Heerenveen have signed Czech Republic international Michal Papadopulos from FK Mladá Boleslav for an undisclosed fee, the 24-year-old signing a five-year contract with the Dutch side.
German sojourn
The 1.87m-tall striker scored ten goals in 29 matches for Mladá Boleslav last season, his first campaign since returning home following a spell in Germany, where he played for Bayer 04 Leverkusen and was loaned to FC Energie Cottbus. Having started his career at FC Baník Ostrava, the man whose sole international cap came in a 2-2 draw with England last August spent time on loan at Arsenal FC in 2003/04 but never made a league appearance. Heerenveen enter the UEFA Europa League play-offs as Dutch Cup winners.
