The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has suspended Italy forward Mario Balotelli for one UEFA competition match after his sending-off during the Azzurrini's game against Sweden at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship on Friday.

Ban applies immediately
Balotelli was sent off after 38 minutes of the Group A fixture in Malmo on 19 June. He will serve a one-match sanction for rough play against his opponent, with the suspension applying to the Belarus-Italy game tomorrow, 23 June. The decision of the Control and Disciplinary Body is not subject to appeal. The Italian team defeated Sweden 2-1 with Balotelli among the goalscorers.
