The 24-year-old, who scored 16 goals in 26 top-flight games, was presented with the prize by Hungary national team coach Erwin Koeman and was not the only member of Debrecen's championship-winning squad to pick up an honour in Telki. Team-mate József Varga, 21, received the Nándor Hidegkuti best newcomer award while the Gusztáv Sebes gong for best coach went to Aurél Csertői, who guided his Haladás FC side to third place and a berth in the inaugural UEFA Europa League. Hungarian international Rudolf was in his second season at Debrecen following a spell with French club AS Nancy-Lorraine.
