Netherlands 5-0 Switzerland
The Netherlands won their first match of the Four Nations Cup at the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium on Saturday evening with a convincing 5-0 success against Switzerland.

Stevens opener
Switzerland finished only one point behind the second-placed Netherlands in UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifying Group 4 having drawn twice with the Oranje, who were to progress to the finals via the play-offs, but were no match for Vera Pauw's side tonight. Karin Stevens opened the scoring for the Netherlands after nine minutes with a delicate lob while Manon Melis doubled the lead after beating three defenders.

Late strikes
Dutch captain Annemiek Kiesel-Griffioen added the third eight minutes before the end while Marlous Pieëte's shot and Anouk Hoogendijk's header provided further gloss late on. "It might sound a bit strange after a 5-0 victory, but we can do a lot better," said Pauw. "In parts of the game we were too disorganised. But when you win with this big scoreline, you can hardly be dissatisfied. We scored some really beautiful goals." The Netherlands now face South Africa on 13 July and China two days later. Earlier on Saturday, China beat South Africa 5-0. Switzerland begin their bid to reach the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany with their opening Group 6 fixture at home to the Republic of Ireland, before facing Russia, Israel and Kazakhstan.
