After winning the first leg 2-1, Anorthosis – who reached the UEFA Champions League group stage last year having started out in the first qualifying round – were taken to extra time by their Montenegrin opponents before losing 4-3 on aggregate. In addition to the departure of Middendorp, the club have dispensed with the services of Bosnian goalkeeper Nemanja Supić.

A club statement released on Saturday read: "The executive board of Anorthosis Famagusta during today's meeting decided to terminate the contracts of both Ernst Middendorp and Nemanja Supić."
