Having taken a break for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, the Swedish season resumes this weekend, with IFK Göteborg looking to maintain their position at the top of the table.
IFK grief
Sweden's success at the U21 tournament had a downside for IFK, with 18-year-old striker Robin Söder picking up a cruciate injury to his left knee in the semi-final defeat by England, played at his club's home stadium – the Gamla Ullevi. Another attacking player, Pontus Wernbloom, has now left IFK for AZ Alkmaar, and with the Gothenburg side's other U21 stars Mattias Bjärsmyr and Gustav Svensson attracting interest from abroad, along with Sweden full-back Adam Johansson, there may be more disruption ahead.
Hareide hired
Most of the Allsvenskan reshuffling elsewhere has been on the coaches' benches. IFK's local rivals Örgryte IS, bottom of the table, have called in former Norway coach Åge Hareide to rescue them with his predecessor Janne Carlsson staying on as his assistant. In the first 12 matches of the season, Örgryte collected just two points but should do better now that forwards Marcus Allbäck and Álvaro Santos have returned from injury.
Djurgården reshuffle
Second-from-bottom Djurgårdens IF FF also restart with a new coaching lineup. Zoran Lukic has moved on with Andrée Jeglertz choosing Englishman Steve Galloway as his new co-coach, the pair having worked together for many years at Swedish women's champions Umeå IK. The season recommences on Saturday as Brommapojkarna welcome GAIS Göteborg and Hammarby take on Trelleborgs FF, with matches on Sunday and Monday completing the round.
