Experts monitor WOMEN'S EURO trends

The best of European women's national team football is on show at UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ in Finland – and UEFA's technical experts are in attendance to track technical and tactical developments over the tournament's 19 days.

Teamwork
The team of experts – comprising Anne Noë (Belgium), Béatrice von Siebenthal (Switzerland), Anna Signeul (Scotland) and Ignacio Quereda (Spain) – will observe all 25 matches and will assist UEFA technical director Andy Roxburgh in compiling a comprehensive technical and tactical appraisal of the competition.

Technical tasks
In pursuit of their goal of producing the technical report for this UEFA European Women's Championship, the technical team will follow all the action in the Finnish host cities of Helsinki, Lahti, Tampere and Turku between Sunday 23 August and Thursday 10 September. They will identify talking points, attend training sessions, and in making contact with the head coaches of the 12 finalist teams, pinpoint the coaches' main concerns.

Purpose of report
Team tactics, tactical ploys, key players and coaching influences will all feature in the report, which will be presented at the UEFA Women's National Team Coaches Workshop in Nyon later this year. The technical analysis will also be distributed to the 53 UEFA member national associations to help promote the women's game and benefit its development. In addition, the experts will decide the Carlsberg Player of the Match award at each of the games they attend.

Well qualified
Anna Signeul was a European Championship runner-up as part of the Sweden coaching set-up in 2001 before the former international player took her technical talents to the Scottish Football Association. Ignacio Quereda has a long history coaching Spanish women's national teams – including to the semi-finals of this event in 1997. Anne Noë is a leading figure in Belgian women's football, having captained the national side which she currently coaches. Béatrice von Siebenthal has long been a pioneer in the Swiss women's game, with playing for and now coaching the national team among her list of attainments.
