The French Secretary of State for Sports, Rama Yade, has visited UEFA President, Michel Platini, for a working meeting at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

Sharing the same views
The meeting on Tuesday 1 September was an opportunity to discuss such topical subjects as the specificity of sport, financial fair play and the protection of minors and training clubs. The UEFA President and the French Secretary of State for Sports share the same views on the objectives in all these areas.

Financial fair play accord welcomed
Rama Yade welcomed the agreement on financial fair play secured last week by the UEFA President at the Professional Football Strategy Council meeting in Monaco (see UEFA press release No095). This historic agreement between all members of the European football family should in the short term allow for a better control of club finances in Europe.

Ally and supporter
As a strong advocate of a ban on the international transfer of minors, Michel Platini was pleased to find in Rama Yade both an ally and a supporter on this topic, as well as on the locally trained players rule (homegrown players) that is approved by the European Union.

Key issues
Speaking after the meeting, the UEFA President and the French Secretary of State for Sports confirmed the positive and fruitful nature of their meeting and said they "share the same position on many of the key issues surrounding European football, including the most pressing ones such as the specificity of sport, club finances, locally trained players and the banning of the international transfer of minors". The French Secretary of State for Sports and the UEFA President agreed to stay in close contact.
