Seven caps
The former FC Zwolle, AZ Alkmaar and AFC Ajax player was back-up goalkeeper at Feyenoord when they won the 2001/02 UEFA Cup but failed to secure an extension to his contract in the summer. "Football is over for me," said Timmer, who was capped seven times with the Oranje and was second-choice behind Edwin van der Sar at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2008™. His 20-year career saw him play 513 professional league games.
