FC Lorient are fourth in Ligue 1 after beating lowly AS Saint-Etienne 2-0 while Montpellier Hérault SC are one place lower having won by the same scoreline against LOSC Lille Métropole.

Vahirua opener
Lorient had victory against St-Etienne all but ensured within 17 minutes, Marama Vahirua setting them on their way with a superb free-kick four minutes in and Franco Sosa doubling their advantage 13 minutes later. Christian Gourcuff's side now have 24 points from 13 fixtures and sit just two adrift of surprise leaders AJ Auxerre, 2-0 victors over AS Monaco FC on Saturday.

Montano double
Montpellier have an identical points tally after Victor Montaño struck twice in the closing 25 minutes to earn his side a first league success since 17 October. OGC Nice, meanwhile, are ninth but only four points behind the top four after defeating UEFA Europa League contenders Toulouse FC thanks to Loïc Rémy's 51st-minute penalty.
