December date for knockout round draws

UEFA's House of European Football will hold the draws for the knockout rounds of the 2009/10 UEFA club competitions on Friday 18 December with draw proceedings shown live on uefa.com and Eurosport.

UEFA's House of European Football will host the draws for the knockout rounds of the 2009/10 UEFA club competitions on Friday 18 December. Both draws will be transmitted live on uefa.com and Eurosport.

Draw ceremonies
The pairings for the first knockout round of the UEFA Champions League, as well as the Round of 32 and Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League, will be made during ceremonies to be staged in Nyon, starting at 12.00 and 13.00CET respectively. The draws will be conducted by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and UEFA director of competitions Giorgio Marchetti.

UEFA Champions League
The UEFA Champions League draw will see the winners from one group facing the runners-up from another, with the runners-up playing the first leg at home. Winners and runners-up from the same group cannot be drawn against each other. Clubs from the same association must not meet either.

UEFA Europa League
The UEFA Europa League draw for the Round of 32 will see the 12 group winners and the four best third-ranked teams from the UEFA Champions League group stage drawn against the 12 UEFA Europa League runners-up and the remaining four third-ranked sides from the UEFA Champions League. Winners and runners-up from the same group cannot be paired together. Group winners and the four best third-ranked UEFA Champions League clubs will play the return leg at home. Teams from the same association are kept apart. There will follow an integral draw for the Round of 16 with the qualified sides from the Round of 32, indicated as winners of matches 1 to 16. The first team drawn will host the first leg.

Media accreditation
Media representatives wishing to attend the draws must apply for accreditation via email to accreditations@uefa.ch before midday on Thursday 17 December.

Sound system
A sound system will be installed for ENG crews but no extra facilities such as telephone or ISDN lines will be available inside the draw hall and there are no special facilities for radio stations or websites. Due to interference problems, it is recommended that sound engineers do not use the following frequencies in the House of European Football: 783.875 MHz, 786.125 MHz, 782.250 MHz, 782.875 MHz, 784.625 MHz, 785.250 MHz, 792.500 MHz, 794.875 MHz.
