Former Norway coach Åge Hareide is targeting a rapid return to the international stage after taking over at Viking FK, replacing Uwe Rösler who departed by mutual consent at the end of the season.

Former Norway coach Åge Hareide has been named as the new man at the helm of Viking FK, replacing Uwe Rösler who left by mutual consent after guiding the Stavanger side to tenth in the Eliteserien this season.

Track record
Hareide won the Norwegian title with Rosenborg BK in 2003, after leading Helsingborgs IF and Brøndby IF to championship success in Sweden and Denmark, respectively. However, in five years in charge of Norway he did not manage to qualify for a major championship and stepped down in December 2008 after failing to win a game that year. The 56-year-old is confident he can make an impression on his return to club coaching, saying: "It's natural to have a goal for the club – to qualify for European football in 2011."
