• The son of a football administrator, Per Ravn Omdal represented Lillestrøm SK as a player but achieved more after becoming involved with the Norwegian Football Association (NFF) in 1974, serving the first of two terms as president from 1987 to 1992.
• An economist by profession, he took on a variety of roles as a UEFA Executive Committee member from 1992 to 1996, before his re-election as NFF president coincided with the start of an eleven-year spell as a UEFA vice-president.
• Having once said he "could not imagine a life without football", Ravn Omdal's commitment to football for all has earned him respect in his home country, bringing him the Kniksen award from the Norwegian football community in 1994 and 2003. He is now the NFF's honorary president.
