Franck Ribéry scored on his first start in four months as FC Bayern München defeated SpVgg Greuther Fürth 6-2 in the German Cup quarter-finals, while eight-man 1. FC Köln's hopes were ended by second-tier FC Augsburg.
Ribéry set up Thomas Müller for the opener after five minutes at the Fußball Arena München before the visitors shocked the 14-time cup winners by scoring twice before half-time through Christopher Nöthe and Sami Allagui. However, Bayern took control after the break and turned the game on its head with three goals in seven minutes through Arjen Robben, Ribéry and Philipp Lahm. Müller's second of the night and an Allagui own goal in the closing stages gave the scoreline a more emphatic appearance.
Elsewhere, Köln's Adil Chihi, Lukas Podolski and Petit were dismissed in a 2-0 loss at Augsburg, and Kevin Kuranyi scored the only goal as FC Schalke 04 triumphed at VfL Osnabrück. Werder Bremen beat TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 3-2 on Tuesday.
