AC Milan moved up to second in Serie A and to within four points of FC Internazionale Milano thanks to a 2-1 win at ACF Fiorentina on Wednesday, Pato scoring an added-time winner.
The Rossoneri fell behind 14 minutes into their game in hand when Juan Vargas got to the byline and pulled the ball back into the path of Stevan Jovetić, whose scuffed shot was turned in by former Milan striker Alberto Gilardino. The scoreline remained that way until substitute Klaas Jan Huntelaar exchanged passes with Ronaldinho on the edge of the penalty area and drew Milan level nine minutes from time. Pato struck the winner from another Ronaldinho assist, firing through the legs of Sébastien Frey after the Brazilian's chipped cross had dropped to his compatriot at the far post.
Elsewhere, Udinese Calcio climbed four points clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 home victory against Cagliari Calcio. Goals from Alexis Sánchez and Antonio Di Natale, his 18th in the league this term, turned the game in the Zebrette's favour after Jeda had put the Sardinian side ahead in the second minute.
