Malta international Michael Mifsud has returned home to sign a short-term contract with Valletta FC, with the 28-year-old striker bidding to lead his new side to the title.
Out of contract since leaving Coventry City FC in the summer of 2009, Mifsud joins Valletta as a free agent until the end of the season, with the club still in line for a famous league, FA Trophy and National League Centenary Cup treble. The Maltese national team's all-time top scorer with 24 goals, Mifsud had been linked with Birkirkara FC and Sliema Wanderers FC back at home, having not played in Malta since leaving the latter in 2004, joining Lillestrøm SK fresh from winning the title. He is expected to seek another move abroad in the summer.
