The UEFA Europa League trophy will be handed over by UEFA to the city of Hamburg at a special Trophy Handover Ceremony at Fischauktionshalle, Hamburg, starting at 13.00 CET on Tuesday 13 April.
UEFA president, Michel Platini, will hand over the trophy to Ole von Beust, Mayor of Hamburg, for the city to keep and display to the public until the final, to be played at the Hamburg Arena on Wednesday 12 May 2010 at 20.45 CET. The ceremony will also be attended by representatives of FC Shakhtar Donetsk, the last ever UEFA Cup champions.
The FC Shakhtar Donetsk delegation will be headed by Sergiy Palkin, Chief Executive Officer, Mircea Lucescu, Head Coach and Jadson Rodrigues Da Silva, the last ever goal scorer in the UEFA Cup. The Ukrainian side beat German club Werder Bremen 2-1 in last year's final at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in Istanbul.
The ceremony will be followed by a press conference with UEFA President, Michel Platini, Ole von Beust, Mayor of Hamburg, Dr. Theo Zwanziger, President of the German Football Association and Bernd Hoffmann, President of Hamburger SV.
