FC Porto beat Rio Ave FC 4-0 in the second leg of their Portuguese semi-final on Wednesday to secure a 7-1 aggregate victory and a final date with second division GD Chaves.
Firm favourites after a 3-1 away win in the first leg, Porto took the lead through Fernando Belluschi's superb free-kick after 21 minutes. Ernesto Farias missed a 33rd-minute penalty after Ricardo Chaves brought down Diego Valeri, and the Dragons had to wait until the 79th for a second as substitute Freddy Guarín struck from range. Rúben Micael's long-range effort (87) and Falcao's added-time header iced the cake for Porto.
Chaves, meanwhile, are through to the final for the first time in their history after a 3-1 aggregate win against top-flight A. Naval 1º Maio. Chaves, second-bottom in the second tier, had their first-leg advantage wiped out after 15 minutes on Tuesday as Fábio Júnior levelled the tie.
Two extra-time goals from 19-year-old substitute Eduardo Machado proved enough for the visitors to upset the odds, however, and they will be looking for another scalp in the 16 May in Lisbon.
