VfL Bochum 1848 have dismissed coach Heiko Herrlich, who was only appointed in October, with immediate effect. Within a win in ten games, the Ruhrland club lie third from bottom of the Bundesliga with two matches remaining, behind 1. FC Nürnberg on goal difference in the relegation play-off place. Popular former captain Dariusz Wosz has taken over as caretaker but on Saturday must take his team to leaders Bayern München, fresh from reaching the UEFA Champions League final.
